The Duke of Edinburgh Award
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is delivered at all levels at The Parker.
Our success has been recognised as we were one of the first state schools in the East Midlands to become a Directly Licensed Centre, operating under its own authority since 2012.
What are the benefits of the award?
When your child does their DofE programme they’ll develop the skills and attitudes they need to become more rounded, confident adults. Qualities that colleges, universities and employers are attracted to.
You’ll see all kinds of new talents bloom in your child as they achieve their Award including:
- Self belief
- A sense of identity
- A real awareness of their strengths
- A sense of responsibility
- New friendships
- New talents and abilities
- The ability to learn from and give to others in the community
- Problem solving, presentation and communication skills
- Leadership and team-working skills
When can my child start?
The Bronze Award can begin as soon as a student becomes 14 years old, or at the start of year 10.
The Silver Award can begin as soon as a student becomes 15 years old, or at the start of Year 11.
The Gold Award is only available to students on roll in the Parker Sixth Form and can be started at age 16 or at the start of Year 12.
